A small railway world
across Sydney

I’m a dad in Sydney. My two-year-old loves watching trains, so I made this little world for us to enjoy together. You’re welcome to watch with us.

Worlds by Train is a storybook 3D railway simulator for the browser. Its WebGL route runs from Central through the CBD and Harbour Bridge to Berowra.

Trains and music

Garden Shuttle, Little Steam and Parcel Train share the same world. These fictional consists are not exact replicas or simulations for real railway operations.

The score includes Dawn forest, Evening river and Elgar’s Salut d’amour (Love’s Greeting). These synthesized performances are rendered in advance. Love’s Greeting uses a solo piano. Train effects and music have separate volume controls.

Spatial data and model scope

The Sydney route and surrounding terrain use railway lines, station coordinates, roads, shoreline and elevation from NSW Spatial Services. Station neighbourhoods also use OpenStreetMap building footprints. Source data was collected on 31 October 2026 and modified for this model.

Building facades, some heights, rail elevation profiles and vegetation are estimates. Model length is calculated from the virtual path. This is not a survey map or a live transport service. Pine Valley is fictional. This independent project is not endorsed by Transport for NSW, NSW Spatial Services or OpenStreetMap.
